Mojave Maxine races Easter Bunny on El Paseo

The Living Desert is holding a social media contest featuring a classic matchup between the tortoise (Mojave Maxine) and the hare (Easter Bunny).

The zoo’s mascot, Mojave Maxine, took to the streets of El Paseo for a foot race to kick off the spring season, according to officials. Shoppers and diners along El Paseo had a great view of the event.

Coordinators said the bunny was also distributing candy to spectators. And as an added bonus, the first person to take a photo with the bunny and post it to their social media page using #TheLivingDesert will win a family pass to the zoo.
