Man facing dozens of identity theft related charges

One man is in jail facing a dozens of charges after police say he ran an identity theft and fraud ring.

The investigation started after authorities noticed a suspicious deposit at a bank on El Paseo in Palm Desert.

That investigation led authorities to 51-year old Alfred Johnson.

Police say Johnson was stealing checks and would then withdraw money from banks using different aliases.

Johnson was wanted in Los Angeles for similar crimes.

Several law enforcement agencies including the secret service came together to arrest Johnson in the Los Angeles area.

He’s facing 43 felonies and 2 misdemeanor charges including burglary and possession of stolen property.
