2 La Quinta men arrested for cashing stolen checks & ID theft

Two men from La Quinta were arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection to cashing stolen checks at banks and businesses throughout the Coachella Valley,

Officers with the Palm Desert Burglary Suppression Team began investigating the case after the checks were stolen from a Palm Desert home in May.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the investigation led officers to the suspects’ home on Avenida Navarro in La Quinta.

Deputies said 33-year-old Jaime Camacho and 29-year-old Alfonso Camacho were both arrested around 12:30 p.m.

Jaime Camacho is facing charges of passing fictitious checks, identity theft, conspiracy, burglary and committing a felony while out on bail. Alfonso Camacho was arrested for passing fictitious checks, identity theft, conspiracy, and violation of probation, according to the sheriff’s release.

Both suspects were booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
