Law enforcement urging caution on first day of school

Students and teachers in the Coachella Valley Unified School District will head back to class Thursday morning and local law enforcement are urging drivers to use caution.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and California Highway Patrol are asking people to be vigilant on roadways, especially in school zones.

The CHP will also conduct a special enforcement at three elementary schools in an effort to keep everyone safe.

Officers ask that you limit distractions and always watch for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Palm Springs Unified students are already back in class.

Desert Sands Unifed students will be going back to class next Wednesday.
