Twentynine Palms murder suspect arrested in Palm Springs

A Twentynine Palms resident was in jail Friday morning after a deadly shooting.

San Bernardino County Sheriffs Deputies were called to the 5500 block of Abronia Avenue in Twentynine Palms early Thursday morning at 3:04 a.m. when residents heard gun shots.

They found Patrick McGee, 32, of Twentynine Palms wounded from an apparent gunshot. McGee later died.

Witnesses identified the suspect as a Manuel Garcia, 26, of Twentynine Palms, but said he had driven away in a black GMC Envoy.

Deputies contacted other law enforcement agencies throughout the area. Police located Garcia in Palm Springs and took him into custody at 10:50 a.m. without incident.

He is now charged with murder. Authorities have not released a possible motive for the shooting.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail are investigating the crime. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division and the Gang Intervention Team were also involved in locating Garcia.
