Stay safe this Black Friday, holiday shopping season

More than 135 million people across the country will rush retailers and others will shop online trying to score the best deals this holiday weekend.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Dept. wants you stay alert and avoid becoming a victim of robbery and theft.

Don’t shop alone
Keep your purses and children close
Don’t flash cash. Use checks and credit cards to avoid becoming a target for criminals
Park in a well-lit space Don’t keep packages and shopping bags visible on the back seat
Lock gifts in the trunk, or if possible, take them home immediately

Before you brave the crowds at the stores, check to see if the retailer is offering the same or even better deals on its website.
