Exclusive look at Sylvester Stallone’s La Quinta home, now for sale

It started as just another day on the job for Hurwitz James Company realtor Josh Reef selling a high-end home, but then a major referral happened.

“Stallone had heard about the sale we just achieved at PGA West, and someone mentioned our name,” Josh Reef said. Then he got the call.

“He asked me what we do to market the property and I said, ‘It’s your house that’s all we need to market it.’ And he got a good laugh about that,” Reef said.

A laugh and a listing later, Reef had his biggest job yet – sell three-time oscar nominee Sylvester Stallone’s 5,000 square-foot, two-story mediterranean style villa. The home inside the exclusive Madison Club in La Quinta has 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms.

“He purchased the home in 2010 they have been coming on and off to escape Hollywood’s fast-paced (nature). Over the last few years they have not been coming down as much as they liked to,” Reef said. Selling a $4.1 million celebrity home brings a lot of pressure.

“I check in with him. You always want to be first and check in!” Reef noted.

Reef is serious about selling this home, and Sly is giving him full freedom to do whatever it takes to make that happen. For example, if you are a serious buyer, perhaps you may have some catering while you tour the home or Reef may give you a one night stay to experience the Madison Club lifestyle.

Stallone and his family vacationed here for Christmas just a month before our shoot, meaning a lot of his personal items remain. His food for example, and who doesn’t want to know what Rocky eats outside the ring? He and his family really like cheerios!

We also saw his art in the home. Stallone starting painting when he was 8 years old. Each painting has a half of a frame on top and his famous autograph on the bottom. Those don’t come with the house.

You can really learn a lot about Stallone as a person touring through his home. Every single room has a few pictures of family, you can see how important these ladies are in his life.

“They love how vacation style living it is, whenever you go you can’t go faster than 40 mph on many streets. Drinks are strong, golf is great, everyone here is always in a great mood can’t beat it,” Reef said.

Perhaps better than desert living though, and better than even selling his home – winning the Oscar this Sunday .
