Coroner determines remains found in wash were fake bones

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office determined the possible human remains found in the wash in Palm Springs Tuesday afternoon weren’t human at all; they were fake bones. They were two fake legs and feet, to be exact.

Officials at the scene told KESQ and CBS Local 2 the fake bones are similar to ones you might find hanging in a science classroom.

Officers with the Palm Springs Police Department were investigating the report after two people reported the possible human remains, which they found in the wash area south of Gateway Drive and Juanita Drive in Palm Springs at about 1:30 p.m.

Officers and detectives arrived to the area and saw what appeared to be skeletal remains. The Coroner’s Office arrived shortly after to investigate more in-depth, and that when officials determined the bones weren’t real.
