‘The Dinah’ brings thousands of lesbians to Palm Springs to party
Spring break is here and thousands of people will be coming in to the Coachella Valley to soak up the sun and have some fun, including thousands of lesbians for the Dinah.
Celebrating its 26th year, the Dinah is one of the largest lesbian music parties in the world, with popular DJs playing music at large pool parties.

Many of the party goers are flying in from parts of the country that might not be as accepting towards lesbians and other LGBTQ people.
“It’s very freeing. Where we live it’s like a really small town so you don’t see a lot of people like us there, so it’s really fun to come to something like this and be free,” said Elaina Salvo who is attending the Dinah with her partner. They flew in from Florida.
“You get to come out here and no one really judges because everyone is just used to it, so there is a lot less staring and the ability to be yourself,” said Bianca Williams who lives in Washington D.C.
Hotels around the Palm Springs area are fully booked or have very few vacancies. Proponents of the Downtown Development Project see this weekend as an example that the city needs more hotels.
“Once that project is completed this will be a grand slam for the city and we are very excited with in the next few years it will be completed,” said Aftab Dada, general manager for the Palm Spring Hilton.
Also going on this weekend the ANA Inspiration will bring in thousands of golf lovers to watch the best women’s golfers in the world tee off at Mission Springs Country Club in Rancho Mirage.
