Man arrested in Coachella after pulling gun on transient

Police have arrested a man who pulled a gun on a transient and threatened to kill him.

The incident was reported at 8:16 a.m. Saturday morning at a homeless camp near Dillon Rd. and Avenue 47.

The victim, a 45 year old transient, was in the area, and saw a bicycle he believed was recently stolen next to the trailer.

The victim contacted the occupant of the trailer, Tomas Gonzalez , age 34 of Coachella, and requested he return the bicycle to his friend.

Gonzalez pulled a pistol and threatened to shoot and kill the victim.

The victim was able to flee the area and called police.

Once police arrived, Tomas Gonzalez was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon along with being in possession of an ounce of meth.

During a search of his trailer, the loaded pistol used to assault the victim was located, and a short barrel shotgun.

Gonzalez was also arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Short Barrel Shotgun, Possession of Methamphetamine for Sale, Possession of Controlled Substances while armed with a Firearm, and Possession of Stolen Property.

Gonzalez was booked at the Indio Jail.
