Felon arrested with meth & loaded firearm during traffic stop

The La Quinta Police Department arrested a felon on Tuesday afternoon during a code enforcement stop on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Eisenhower Drive and Calle Tampico in La Quinta at about 3:25 p.m., according to jail records.

Officers said 34-year-old Oscar Valenzuela of Coachella was found to be in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine , drug paraphernalia, a loaded firearm and a speed loader with additional ammunition.

Valenzuela was arrested for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine with a loaded firearm, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio on $25,000 bail and is due in court at the Larson Justice Center on Thursday morning.
