Reported shooting at LAX false alarm

UPDATE: 10:33 p.m.

At least four terminals at Los Angeles International Airport were evacuated today as law enforcement officials responded to what turned out to be false reports of a shooting.

Terminals 4, 5, 7 and 8 were evacuated about 8:50 p.m. as authorities
investigated multiple 911 calls of shots fired, according to broadcast reports.

A variety of media reports said by 9:50 p.m. an “all-clear” had been
issued, but that a logjam of vehicles and people stranded by the evacuation of the terminals had brought the airport to a crawl that will take time to untangle.

LAX officials said there were no injuries reported and no evidence of
shots fired.

Police officials said all passengers needed to be re-screened through airport security before being allowed back into the terminal, according to media reports.
