Neighbors react to Indio homicide

A 30-year-old Indio woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died Sunday night.

A neighbor, who asked not to be identified, says she heard the first round of gunshots around 8 p.m.

“There was shooting. Then the people left, and then they came back and there was shooting at the house again,” said the neighbor.

Neighbors said they heard up to eight gunshots and saw multiple people outside the house during the incident.

Srgt. Dan Marshall from the Indio Police Department says Cal Fire arrived on scene around 9:30 p.m. and performed CPR on the victim, but, it was too late. Now the question is who pulled the trigger and why?

Neighbors said they are not surprised by the shooting and hope to see more police patrolling the area.

Marshall said that detectives are working tirelessly to find the suspect(s) and are hoping to identify the victim soon. Officials are asking anyone with information to call Valley Crime Stoppers at 760 341-STOP. Tipsters can remain anonymous and you may be eligible for a cash reward.
