Car crashes into airport fence in Palm Springs

Palm Springs Emergency crews were called to the Airport on Monday after a car crashed into a fence near the runway. According to Palm Springs Police, just before 11:30 am they responded to a single vehicle traffic collision just north of the intersection of Gene Autry Trail and Ramon Road.

The investigation revealed that a silver Mitsubishi Montero was traveling southbound on Gene Autry Trail and struck the center raised median just north of Ramon Road. The vehicle then crossed over onto the southbound lanes, struck a fire hydrant on the west sidewalk, and rolled-over as it struck the southeast fence-line of the Palm Springs International Airport.

The driver of the Montero was not injured and it is not suspected that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision. Two southbound lanes of Gene Autry Trail were temporarily closed for approximately an hour and half.
