CVUSD to build 2 new elementary schools in east valley

The Coachella Valley Unified School District is moving forward with the construction of two new elementary schools in the east valley, district officials announced Thursday.

One of the new elementary schools will be built for the community of North Shore. The other school is a new Palm View Elementary located in Coachella, according to CVUSD’s news release.

The new Palm View Elementary would replace the existing buildings located on Seventh Street in Coachella that were first constructed in 1939. The new elementary school in North Shore will be the first built in the North Shore Community, officials said.

“We are excited for these two projects,” said Board President Maria Machuca. “It is because of the dedication of our parents, community partners, CVUSD board of trustees, and administration that we have been able to have discussions and work collaboratively to move forward.” Machuca added, “Our children in both areas will be able to enjoy the new learning environments that will prepare them for the future.”
