At least one detained after DHS chase and search

Several marked and unmarked police cars gathered in a Desert Hot Springs neighborhood Thursday evening in search of a suspect who was on the run. Authorities detained 21-year-old James Goodwin at the scene, but they’re still looking for one suspect.

A law enforcement helicopter was also seen circling the community east of Cabot’s Pueblo Museum around 6:00 p.m. following a chase through the city minutes earlier.

Desert Hot Springs Police Chief Dale Mondary said the Fugitive Apprehension Team was looking for a suspect from a shooting in 2015. Officers began pursuing a vehicle that was being driven by Goodwin.

The passenger [shooting suspect] bailed from the vehicle and is still on the loose, according to police.

CBS Local 2 and KESQ news crews witnessed Goodwin being led away in handcuffs in the area of Monterico Road and Calle Amapola on Thursday night.

We’ll keep you updated as authorities continue to search for the wanted suspect.
