Officers investigate crash on Ramon Road near Bob Hope Drive

A crash happened at about 1 p.m. Wednesday on eastbound Ramon Road, just west of Bob Hope Drive in Rancho Mirage.

KESQ and CBS Local 2 learned from officers at the scene that a car stopped at a red light at the intersection was rear ended by the driver of another car who didn’t stop at the light. Officers said the driver didn’t try to stop before hitting the car.

Officers continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision.

The driver of the car responsible for the collision was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. Both cars are most likely a total loss. There was a third car that was struck in the aftermath of the original collision but it only sustained minor damage to its bumper.

The crash slightly slowed traffic on Ramon Road as officers had to close a couple of lanes to investigate and clear the wreckage.
