Rain doesn’t stop people from visiting this year’s Christopher Kennedy Compound
Hundreds of people came to tour the Christopher Kennedy Compound Saturday morning. Tours started at 9 a.m. and the party continued throughout the night.
Overcast skies and a few raindrops didn’t seem to bother visitors as they toured this year’s compound, with some traveling from Australia just to experience Modernism Week.
“Been following Modernism Week for about a week and I thought this would be a great place cause I love midcentury architecture and I’m an interior designer and yeah, this is a dream, so it’s wonderful,” said Trish Recchia.
Crowds of visitors filled the house, all to see what this year’s group of tastemakers came up with. Celebrity interior designer Kelli Ellis said homeowner Kelly Golightly was the inspiration for her kitchen.
“She is a quintissential girly girl and she wanted an open, airy kitchen feel, but also glam and so I had to combine all of those things,” Ellis said.
Esteemed photographer Gray Malin’s patio space brightened up the dreary day.
“One series of mine takes place in Italy and where I’ve shot umbrellas lining the sand and I just thought it would be wonderful to take the inspiration from one of my photographs and turn it into an umbrella inspired by the inspiration you can see in the work,” Malin said.
But by far the most buzzed-about room was Salvador Camarena’s Queen Bey inspired bathroom.
I like to call it ‘Bed Bath and Beyonce.’ It’s inspired by Beyonce’s album ‘Lemonade,’ so you see the lemon wallpaper and the black and white stripes and the outfits behind me are what I think she would wear by the pool here at Villa Golightly,” Camarena said.
Visitor’s agreed this year’s show house is something they will never forget.
“I love the wallpaper. I love the colors. I love everything about it. It’s beautiful,” Recchia said.
