Deputies search for hit & run driver who struck girl on bicycle

A 12-year-old girl was hospitalized Tuesday with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a hit-and-run SUV driver while she was biking in Bermuda Dunes.

The collision was reported at 42098 Washington Street at about 12:45 p.m. Deputies are searching the area for the suspect’s vehicle.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Radford, the girl was riding a bicycle in the Big O Tires parking lot in Bermuda Dunes. She was struck by what is believed to be a silver SUV, possibly a Ford. Authorities are still searching for the suspect.

The girl was transported to JFK Memorial with minor injuries.
