Developer misses deadline to build Saxony Group luxury hotel in Cathedral City
Plans are no longer in the works to build a luxury hotel by Saxony Group on Date Palm Drive and Highway 111. This coming after the developer apparently missed a deadline to purchase the land that was set for December 31, 2016.
Plans to build the luxury hotel were debuted in August of 2015.
According to Communication’s Director Chris Parman, “Saxony Start Hospitality, LLC, the developer, submitted and received approval on its plans to build a 300-room hotel in Downtown Cathedral City. The plans have been entitled,” said Parman. “However, the City has been informed by the City Urban Revitalization Corporation (CURC) that the developer missed its latest deadline with them requiring the developer to purchase the land, obtain building permits, and demonstrate its financial strength towards building the hotel project. CURC continues to own the land entitled for a hotel project, maintains all non-refundable deposits worth $200,000 from Saxony Start Hospitality, LLC, and is actively marketing the property to other developers.
The hotel was plotted to fit a 12-acre parcel of land.
CURC is a non profit thats purpose is to bring and improve projects to the Cathedral City Downtown Corridor.
The money that Saxony gave will stay with CURC. Saxony Start Hospitality is owned by Martin Dolemo. His failed valley ventures include a party center in La Quinta, and a Shopping outlet project in Rancho Mirage.
KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 will deliver more details if plans to build the hotel continue in the future.
