Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert hosts first-ever ‘Derby Downs’
Hundreds came together in the Valley Saturday night to try their luck, while supporting an organization helping local children.
Saturday, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert hosted their first-ever ‘Derby Downs’ gala at Toscana Country Club in Indian Wells.
The night included horse racing, betting, dancing and a silent auction, with all proceeds going towards the organization.
The organization helps Valley children with services, including one-on-one mentoring.
“We did a day at the races at the polo fields, (and) we also did some fashion show stuff, so this was a nice way to combine these two things, bring out a new group of people, and get some support for our wonderful organization,” Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert President David Greenberg said.
CBS Local 2’s Kelley Moody served as the event’s emcee.
Greenberg said Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert serves about 500 children throughout the Valley.
