First LPGA major of the year begins Thursday from Mission Hills in Rancho Mirage
RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif.- The 2017 ANA Inspiration is set to begin first round action on Thursday morning (March 30th) with the champion of the LPGA’s first major of the year crowned on Sunday from Mission Hills Country Club after 72-holes. Number one in the world, and 2016 winner Lydia Ko will again headline the field that expects 10 previous champions to tee off including Americans Brittany Lincicome (2009, 2015) & Lexi Thompson (2014). This is the event’s 35th year as a major tournament (46th overall) and the seventh year in a row that Golf Channel will televise the action. The total earnings is $2.7 million which makes it one of the highest paying tournaments on tour. Monday: Blake Arthur will preview the week’s action in sports at 5:30pm (CBS) & 6pm (KESQ).
Tuesday: ANA Inspiring Women in Sports Conference featuring three-time Olympic gold medal winning gymnast Aly Raisman, former world’s number one tennis player Maria Sharapova, ESPN’s Cari Champion, US women’s softball gold medalist & ESPN Sunday night baseball analyst Jessica Mendoza, 2014 ANA Inspiration champion Lexi Thompson, and one of the 20th centuries most respect and influential people Billie Jean King will headline the event.
Wednesday: Media Day coverage with interviews from some of the top players on the tour plus the Pro-Am which last year Caitlyn Jenner took part in.

Friday: 2nd Round
Saturday: 3rd Round
Sunday: Final round and KESQ/CBS Local 2 will be live from Poppy’s Pond with a one on one interview from the 2017 champion.
