Woman crashes stolen car into fence during police chase
A 23-year-old woman from Yucca Valley has been arrested on charges of felony evading and possession of a stolen vehicle after she crashed into a fence following a high-speed pursuit through the High Desert early Thursday morning.
Kimberly Corona was seen driving recklessly near Avalon Avenue and Highway 62 in Yucca Valley just after 2 a.m., deputies with the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station said in a release. Corona fled when a deputy tried to pull her over, reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour as she made her way to Joshua Tree.
She crashed into a fence in the 61000 block of Sunburst Circle in Joshua Tree. Deputies said she ran from the crashed vehicle but was found nearby, according to the sheriff’s department. Deputies learned the vehicle was reported stolen in Las Vegas on March 13.
Corona was arrested and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail and is being held on $100,000 bail.
