Man breaks into dollar store 1 week after Payless

A 19-year-old Coachella man was in custody today for allegedly smashing a window at a local dollar store in order to take merchandise, a week after burglarizing a second business across the street.

Jesus Rebollar-Miranda was arrested on suspicion of commercial burglary after sheriff’s deputies found him walking near the dollar store with “several items of stolen merchandise from the store in his possession,” according to sheriff’s Sgt. Tim White.

Sheriff’s deputies say they responded at around 4 a.m. Wednesday to a burglary alarm at the Family Dollar Store, 49681 Harrison Street, where they found shattered glass, indicating that a burglary had recently occurred. Deputies conducted a search of the immediate area and found Rebollar-Miranda walking nearby, White said.

Further investigation led deputies to also connect him to a March 22 burglary of a Payless ShoeSource at 50057 Harrison Street, located in a strip mall across the street from the strip mall where Family Dollar Store is located.

Rebollar-Miranda was booked into the Riverside County jail in Indio, where he was being held $20,000 bail.
