Dan Armstrong staying on as La Quinta head football coach

La Quinta High School is pleased to announce that retiring athletic director Dan Armstrong will be staying on as head Blackhawk football coach.

Principal Rebecca Cook, Ed.D., in making the announcement said, “After much consideration, working with my administrative team and new athletic director, we all agree that this is what is best for the program at this time. The football program built by Coach Armstrong is one of the best in the state and we want to be certain that the tradition of sportsmanship, student athlete excellence, and yes, a winning team, continue at La Quinta High School.” She went on to say that an extensive search had been conducted for a head football coach but a suitable candidate providing the right fit for the school and team had yet to be identified.

Armstrong noted, “I am ready to retire but this program is too important to me and the students and the school hold a special place in my heart. I could not just walk away while the search continues for a new head coach. I have met with Dr. Cook and I have agreed to continue to serve as head coach. I am looking forward to another outstanding season.”
