Police investigate elderly man’s homicide at Palm Springs home

A man was found dead Tuesday in a Palm Springs home, sparking a homicide investigation.

Officers were called to the 2200 block of Park Drive at 8:22 a.m. regarding a suspicious circumstance at a residence, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

Arriving officers found the deceased man, only described as “elderly” at the location.

The circumstances of his death were not immediately disclosed.

“Numerous resources have been dedicated to this investigation and detectives are working around the clock to identify a suspect(s) in this case,” police said in a statement.

“There is no indication that there is a risk to the community in relation to this investigation and we are actively working several leads.”

Police were investigating the murder on the same day that a parolee who was convicted in 2009 of burglarizing the victim’s home was arrested following a high-speed chase.

Jonathan Flora, 30, was arrested Tuesday afternoon, hours after police discovered a man’s body inside his home at 2290 Park Drive

Police released a statement late Wednesday acknowledging the connection between Flora and the homicide victim, but stressed that no arrests had yet been made in the man’s murder.

While investigating this case, PSPD detectives became aware of Jonathan Flora’s association with the victim of the homicide and location of occurrence,” the statement read. “The case is still active and ongoing and no arrests have been made in this homicide at this time.”
