Power outage at Desert Regional Medical Center delays some surgeries

UPDATE 1:40 p.m. — According to medical center officials, power was restored at Desert Regional Medical center at about 1 p.m. Thursday after repairs by Southern California Edison.

Desert Regional Medical Center announced a temporary electrical interruption Thursday morning. They say Southern California Edison is currently working to restore power, and they are using back-up generators to provide power to the hospital. Power is expected to be restored later today.

The outage occurred yesterday morning. Elective surgeries are currently postponed and will be rescheduled once power is fully restored. Both the emergency department and trauma centers are open at this time.
