Coyote pup impounded in Jurupa Valley

Riverside County Animal Services responded to a report of a coyote pup that was possibly injured in Jurupa Valley on Tuesday.

According to John Welsh with Animal Services, the property owner called to say the pup may have been injured or stuck inside some bushes because it wasn’t moving. The property was located in the 7100 block of Ridgeline Drive.

Animal Service Officer Will Luna crawled and squirmed his way toward the pup because it was so deep into the bushes, Welsh said in a news release. Officer Luna said it’s possible the mother abandoned the pup but he said he did not believe the animal suffered any injuries.

Authorities believe the coyote pup is about two months old. Due to its age, the animal was brought to the Western Riverside County/City Animal Shelter in Jurupa Valley.

Officer Tiffany Fuller then transported the coyote to one of animal service’s wildlife rehabilitation rescue partners, Sunshine Haven, on Tuesday afternoon.
