I-10 back open after Cal Fire douses brush fire near Indian Canyon Drive

Cal Fire has extinguished a brush fire on I-10 which ignited in a center divider just west of Indian Canyon Drive Friday afternoon. The fire ignited at about 3:30 p.m. and the California Highway Patrol shut down the No. 1 westbound lane of the freeway, causing some traffic back ups in Palm Springs.

The freeway was clear to traffic at about 5 p.m. when authorities left the scene.

KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2’s Joe Galli arrived to the fire and crews had already doused the flames just after 4 p.m. Fire investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.

We’ll deliver updates as the investigation continues.
