Registered sex offender arrested after leading police on 70-mile pursuit in stolen vehicle

A large police presence was on hand in Bermuda Dunes Saturday night around 10:30 where a police pursuit ended at the intersection of Avenue 42 and Glass Drive.

The chase actually started when Highland deputies spotted the stolen vehicle at a 76 gas station at Baseline Road and the 210 freeway, just after 9 p.m. The suspect was identified as 35-year-old Jason Beach. Three deputies pinned the vehicle into a parking stall but Beach accelerated toward the sheriff vehicles and drove over a landscaped divider and entered to 210 freeway, according to the release.

Beach continued driving on the 210 freeway westbound as deputies gave chase. When Beach made it to Redlands, he entered I-10 eastbound where he continued for nearly 70 miles.

Aviation crews and the California Highway Patrol joined the effort when the suspect made it to Banning.

Beach ended up making it to Bermuda Dunes where he crashed into a wall at Avenue 42 and Glass Drive. Deputies said he wasn’t injured in the crash and he was arrested and taken back to San Bernardino County where he was booked at the Central Detention Facility.

Beach is facing charges of felony evading, possession of a stolen vehicle, and grand theft auto. Authorities said he was also booked for several warrants, including a no bail parole hold. Beach is also a registered sex offender who is out of compliance with his registration requirements.
