Patriotic fireworks fans fill Palm Springs Stadium

Thousands of people celebrated Independence Day with America’s pastime and fireworks in Palm Springs.

The 20-minute fireworks show was after a Palm Springs Power baseball game. Mayor Robert Moon threw out the first pitch.

KESQ and CBS Local 2 reporter Joe Galli asked folks at the show why they were proud to be an American.

“I have the freedom of speech and the freedom to do that I feel protected to do,” said Makayla Coor of Desert Hot Springs.

“I was thinking about the Statue of Liberty and I was watching a show on how they constructed it, and it brought me to tears to know how hard they worked on it and that it really means something,” said Viola Brindzak of North Palm Springs.

“My people. Being me. We helped build this country so just the history of my people makes me proud to be an American,” said Brandon J of Fontana.

The Palm Springs Police Department was out in force at Sunrise Park.
