Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia speaks on the passage of AB 1453
Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia celebrated the successful passage of AB 1453 in the east valley Wednesday morning.
The event was held at Mecca Elementary School. Garcia was joined by Read with Me, a volunteer program that seeks to help children from low income backgrounds and improve their English fluency.

AB 1453 authorizes the governing board of a school district to additionally allow for the transportation of adult volunteers to and from educational activities.
This measure was introduced to ensure Read with Me volunteers program is able to continue transporting volunteers, mostly senior citizens, to remote schools in rural communities.
