Update: Rollover wreck blocks Highway 111 in Palm Springs

UPDATE 9:50 a.m.:

Southbound lanes of Highway 111 are now open, the number 2 lane remains closed between Gateway Drive and Overture Drive.

Police and medics were on the scene of a rollover wreck on Highway 111 Wednesday morning that blocked southbound Highway 111.

A watch commander said a driver heavy-duty construction truck flipped over spilling equipment all over the road shortly before 7:00 a.m.

The driver suffered minor injuries.

The crash stopped southbound traffic into Palm Springs between Angel Canyon Trail and Gateway Drive. Northbound traffic toward Cabazon was not impacted by any road closures.

Police were detouring southbound traffic into Palm Springs onto Tipton Road and back to Interstate 10.

Police said southbound lanes of Highway 111 would be closed and motorists should use I-10 to Indian Canyon Drive as an alternate route.

CalTrans said roads are expected to open at 10 a.m.
