Hot air balloon lands in Indio intersection

A hot air balloon landed in an Indio intersection Tuesday afternoon, blocking traffic for a short time.

The balloon landed on Bliss Avenue and Monroe Street Shortly before 5:00 pm.

One person who lives in the neighborhood where the hot air balloon came down says he helped the passengers get the balloon safely to the ground inside a gated community in the area.

According to the resident, there were two people onboard. They told him that the wind carried them too far.

Traffic was backed up for a few minutes in the area.

A crew came in a Van with a trailer and picked them up, according to the resident.
