TRAFFIC ALERT: Jefferson construction closes all ramps
UPDATE: Traffic is clearing from the earlier wreck on Interstate 10 eastbound east of Washington Street.

A collision involving a gray SUV and a big rig semi truck was reported at 5:37 a.m. Tuesday morning eastbound on Interstate 10, halfway between Washington Street and the Jefferson Interchange. The collision was backing up traffic in the eastbound lanes past Washington Street.
There was no word on any injuries.
The wreck occurred during an overnight construction project at the Jefferson Street Interchange where freeway lanes were closed and all on and off ramps at the Jefferson Street Interchange were closed early Tuesday morning.
Motorists were being detoured to either Monroe Street to the east or Washington Street to the west to access the freeway.
Some eastbound and westbound freeway lanes were also closed, and traffic backed up, as construction crews worked on the travel lanes just west and east of the Jefferson Interchange.
All work was set to be completed by 6 a.m.
Local representatives attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 17 to celebrate the interchange’s near completion.
