Guide Dogs of the Desert celebrates new facilities, graduation

Guide Dogs of the Desert celebrated two big milestones Saturday.

It’s been a project employees and volunteers have been working toward for months.

A newly remodeled wellness center and puppy development center are officially up and running at their Whitewater dog campus.

“This is where we provide all of our veterinary services for our dogs that are in the program,” Sarah Clapp, Guide Dogs of the Desert Executive Director said. “From the time they are puppies, all the way up until coming in for their formal training, and graduation being today, they get all their clearances here.”

The guide dogs live on site for 28 days, where they go through intensive training before they officially graduate.

Saturday, six guide dogs celebrated graduations and were joined with their new owners.
