Pickup truck crashes on freeway in Desert Center

A solo car crash in Desert Center is causing a temporary freeway closure.

A pickup truck traveled off the road and rolled on I-10 Tuesday morning. Lauren Sanders, 32, from Phoenix, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer eastbound on Interstate 10, east of Red Cloud Mine Road. The Chevrolet traveled to the right, off the roadway and overturned, ejecting Sanders.

Officers shut down the road for a helicopter to land and take Sanders to the hospital with serious injuries. An eight year old girl, six year old girl and four year old boy sustained minor injuries and were transported to Desert Regional.

California Highway patrol says she was not wearing a seatbelt. The other occupants were in child safety seats. Alcohol and/or drugs did not appear to be a factor.

All lanes opened at 6:30 a.m.
