Family forced from home by fire

Firefighters extinguished an overnight structure fire that burned a Desert Hot Springs garage.

Three adults and one child were forced from the home due to the flames, first reported at 12:02 a.m. along the 16000 block of Via Montana.

16 firefighters and four engines worked to contain the flames to the single-story home’s garage.

There were no reports of any injuries and no word on the fire’s cause.

Damage from the fire was estimated at $30,000.
