Ramon Road back open after crash involving CHP vehicle

Update: Ramon Road is back open in both directions after an early morning car crash involving a pickup truck and California Highway Patrol vehicle traveling westbound.

Rivera Burgos Jose Juan and Luis Fernando Flores Manzo both of Coachella, were in the pickup truck, police said. Two Highway Patrol officers and the truck occupants suffered moderate injuries and were taken to Desert Regional Medical Center.

The collision is under investigation.

Original: Firefighters and police are on scene of a crash involving a California Highway Patrol vehicle near Ramon Road and Gene Autry Trail.

Palm Springs Police say Ramon road will be closed for several hours in both directions from Gene Autry Trail to San Luis Rey due to traffic incident.

Ramon road also closed westbound from Crossley road to San Luis Rey.

The crash happened in early Sunday morning.

It is not known if anyone involved in the crash is injured at this time, and the cause of the crash is not known.
