Fallen officers remembered at Blue Light ceremony held in Palm Desert

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department held its annual Blue Light ceremony Monday, honoring law enforcement members who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The blue lights will be displayed through Jan. 1. The ceremony is one of many across the nation honoring fallen officers.

“For the surviving family members and co workers this is an intense period of loneliness while everything is very festive they go back to their thoughts of a lived on that was killed in the line of duty,” said Stan Sniff, Riverside County Sheriff.

Since 1893, 64 officers have died in the in the line of duty in Riverside County.

The sheriff’s department will host a second Blue Light Ceremony next week in Riverside at the Riverside County Administrative Center Board Chambers on Dec. 11.
