Driver arrested for DUI following crash in Coachella

A driver was arrested Thursday night for allegedly driving under the influence after causing a crash in Coachella.

The collision happened around 8:45 p.m. on Harrison Street and Westerfield Way.

Coachella Police said a 2001 BMW sedan was traveling northbound on Harrison Street when the driver collided with a 2004 Ford Expedition.

Police identified the driver of the BMW sedan as Gilberto Andrade, 24 of Mecca.

Andrade was suspected to be driving under the influence and charges of driving under the influence will be filed.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about this incident is asked call Coachella Police Department at (760) 863-8990 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-STOP (7867).
