UPDATE: Nearly 6,000 customers without power in San Jacinto Mountains

Southern California Edison continued with a switch off of power to customers in various San Jacinto Mountain communities due to high winds.

According to SCE, as of 4 a.m. Friday, nearly 6,000 customers were without service in the communities of Idyllwild, Twin Pines, Pine Cove and Anza.

The Edison website blamed “trees in equipment” and “equipment damage” for the outages.

Cal Fire announced that a warming center for residents was opened at the Idyllwild School, located at 26700 Highway 243 in Idyllwild.

Power was projected to be restored to all customers by 5 p.m. Friday.
