Truck carrying metal pipes crashes and spills load

A truck spilled fuel and part of its load of metal pipes onto Interstate 10 today crashed with two sedans, prompting the CHP to close at least one lane.

Around 3:30 p.m., Caltrans officials reported all lanes are back open.

The crash was reported at 11:18 a.m. on the eastbound side of the freeway east of Pennsylvania Avenue in Beaumont, according to the California Highway Patrol.

It was not clear if anyone was injured in the crash but a caller told the CHP that the “big rig driver was not moving.”

A CHP incident report also stated that the trailer had sustained “major front end damage” and that an ambulance was called to the scene.

At 11:56 a.m., the CHP requested that Caltrans close at least one lane of Interstate 10 because metal pipes were strewn on the roadway.
