One injured in structure fire near Cahuilla Reserve

One person was injured Saturday morning by a fire that ignited in a residence and later spread to two acres of surrounding brush just outside the Cahuilla Indian Reserve in Anza.

The fire was reported at 9:08 a.m. in the 38100 block of Cary Road, just north of State Route 371.

Forward spread of fire in the vegetation was stopped by 10:15 a.m., according to Jody Hagemann of the Riverside Fire Department. One person was evaluated for non-life threatening injuries by
paramedics but was not hospitalized, Hagemann said. Firefighters remained on scene to contain the structure fire and overhaul, she said.
