Truck goes off side of Highway 74

A pickup truck went off the side of the mountain up on Highway 74 Tuesday morning. California Highway Patrol says the vehicle fell 75 to 100 feet down.

It happened around 7:30 in the morning as the truck was heading eastbound, CHP believes the driver made an “unsafe turning motion.”

All 3 occupants are men from Santee in San Diego County. The driver is 74-years-old, the passengers are 48 and 68.

One person suffered major injuries and the other two suffered moderate injuries. All were sent to the hospital, according to Cal Fire.

Authorities closed off the westbound lane.
