Santa Paws 5K runs through Palm Springs

Two and four-legged joggers hit the streets of Palm Springs for the sixth annual Santa Paws 5K. Hundreds of runners dressed up as Santa Saturday, all for a good cause.

The event raises money for Guide Dogs of the Desert, an organization that provides service dogs to help people with special needs.

“All of our money goes to Guide Dogs, and they use this money for purchasing puppies and other expenses they incur so these puppies can grow up to become guide dogs,” said organizer Molly Thorpe.

The 5k run/walk was followed by an Elf Dash that saw youngsters sprinting a short distance around a park.

News Channel 3’s Jeff Stahl also got in the spirit as the event’s emcee.
