Rancho Mirage man accused of four burglaries

On the evening of November 9, a suspect entered an unlocked door at a residence in the 71300 block of Country Club Drive in Rancho Mirage. According to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, The suspect stole property while the victim slept.

According to Sheriff’s, there were several other burglaries in the area with the same modus operandi over the past month. The Burglary Suppression Team (BSU) assumed the investigation and identified 51-year-old, Rancho Mirage resident Steven Edward Cain as the suspect.

BSU was able to locate Cain at the 39500 block of Berkey Drive in Palm Desert. Several items stolen in the cat burglaries were recovered in addition to a stolen revolver from a previous burglary.

Cain was implicated in four burglaries and seven identity thefts. He has been booked into jail in Indio for first-degree burglary, fraud, identity theft, possession of stolen property, ex-felon in possession of a stolen firearm and violation of probation.
