UPDATE: Coroner identifies body found near Palm Springs trail
Update 12/20/17:
Riverside County Coroner’s Office officially identifies the man found dead on the Lykken Trail in Palm Springs on November 25.
The body was identified as 60-year-old Gregory Ferguson.
Ferguson’s exact cause of death is still unknown at this time as other test results are pending. Palm Springs Police Department does not suspect foul.

Original Story 11/26/17:
A body that was recovered after being discovered near a Palm Springs trail Saturday, had been on the trail for some time, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
On Monday, the coroner’s office said the body was mostly skeletal and was found on the Skyline Trail, just ten miles from the trailhead at the Desert Art Museum.
Authorities were notified around 2 p.m. Saturday that there was a body off an unspecified trail, according to the Palm Springs Mounted Police Search & Rescue team’s Facebook page.
Search crews found the body and removed it from the scene.
