A look at 2017’s biggest local stories

21-year-old Joseph Orbeso and 20-year-old Rachel Nguyen, disappeared in the Maze Loop area of Joshua Tree National Park on July 27th.

A News Channel 3 I-Team Investigation searched for answers.

The two were finally found dead October in a remote region of the Park, authorities revealing a murder-suicide.

Another couple, 26-year-old Audrey Moran and 28-year-old Jonathan Reynoso, vanished May 10. Moran’s SUV was later found parked along Interstate 10 in Beaumont.

The I-Team learned about search warrants served in the weeks following.

This case remains unsolved.

In February, a bombshell announcement from the District Attorney, criminal charges filed against former Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet and two developers tied to downtown projects.

John Wessman and Richard Meany. The corruption and bribery charges.. Stemming from an fbi raid at city hall. In September 2015. All three have pleaded not guilty.. And the case is moving forward.
