Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of an inmate Wednesday afternoon.

At a little before 8:15 am, correctional staff were directed to the holding area, where a male inmate was in need of medical assistance.

Deputies and medical staff provided preliminary medical treatment until they recommended he be transported to John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital for an evaluation. The inmate’s condition at the hospital declined and he was pronounced dead at 4:08 pm.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department does not suspect foul play after conducting a death investigating.

The inmate’s identity is being withheld until next of kin is notified.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Investigator Berryman at the Thermal Sheriff’s Station at 760-863-8990.
